Hey Reader,
Ever experienced that moment where you finally get what you’ve been chasing, and you’re hit with the “Is this it?” feeling that doesn’t make sense?
I mean, with everything you put into it, it doesn’t feel as good as you visualized it to be.
Most people feel this way because their main focus is on the goal.
But there’s a lot more to be prepared for.
In today’s issue, we’ll explore the season before, during, and after a win for a more fulfilling success.
💭 What is the point of winning this?
There’s this classic tale that reminds me of the act of chasing and achieving a goal.
Arjuna was one of the greatest warriors who ever lived.
His cousins wrongfully seized his kingdom through a rigged game of dice.
After years of exile, he and his brothers tried to reclaim it peacefully but were refused.
So he trained almost his entire life to win the battle of Kurukshetra and reclaim what was rightfully his.
He asked Krishna, his friend, to drive his chariot to the centre so he could see who he was about to face.
When he saw his relatives, teacher, and friends standing on the opposing side, his bow slipped from his hands.
And for a moment, he questioned everything.
Everything he had trained for was right in front of him.
But the anticipated win now felt hollow.
Krishna sat with him in that moment.
She pointed him to the meaning of the goal, the duty, purpose, and what it stands for beyond the outcome.
And with that clarity, Arjuna picked up his bow.
He fought, won, and felt at home with his victory.
🧠 The goal was never the whole story
Having big goals and working towards them can be very exciting.
All that planning, strategizing, and hard work to make it happen is so thrilling.
Eventually, the win comes.
But most of that energy, focus, and drive go into chasing the outcome.
And if you’re not careful, you can get carried away with the thought of nailing that goal. With little to no attention to what getting there will do to you.
Or what it opens you up to.
Or the essence of the win beyond the euphoria, accolades, reputation, and image it will build.
So when the win arrives, you celebrate, but somewhere after the celebration, there’s this hollow feeling you can’t explain.
It can make you feel like you don’t know what the hell you’re doing anymore.
I mean, achieving that crazy goal was supposed to feel great.
So where did you miss it?
The goal isn’t the whole story.
And without anything on the other side to step into, even the biggest wins can feel small.
❤️ Fall in love with the what, why, and where of the win
There’s this joy that comes from a win that’s bigger than the goal itself.
When you’re clear on what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and where it’s taking you, you become deeply connected to a more fulfilling experience.
It creates room for a wholesome relationship with you and the goal from the very beginning.
You become clear on what the win means to you and beyond you.
You’re prepared to own the outcome and what comes after.
You’re so sure of yourself, even when things get hard.
Every single step has a purpose that fulfills you.
That clarity keeps you grounded even if no one believes in what you’re doing.
And when the win arrives, you feel it deeply, in a way that lasts beyond the celebration.
You feel the real, private satisfaction of knowing exactly what this moment is a part of, beyond the validation and what everyone else sees.
You’re already clear on what chapter it is closing and what it opens you up to.
So you’re not questioning what’s next.
You’re not seeing the win like an ending, but a foundation for something bigger.
There’s definitely no sense of emptiness.
You feel just as good on the inside as the win feels on the outside.
🤲 Embrace the fulfilled season after the win
Winning is thrilling, but the joy can be fleeting.
Before you get on with the next chase, run it through these three key practices for a more lasting excitement:
- The WHAT. Give your goal a real meaning. What is the goal all about? What are you trying to achieve? What does success look like here? What are the responsibilities and milestones that come with this? What is the clear outcome of doing this? Write what your life looks like, specifically the day after you hit it. Carry that experience within you.
- The WHY. Why does this actually matter to you beyond the image, money, fame, validation, or praise it will attract? What impact do you want to have on yourself or on the people around you? What do you picture as the greatest purpose of this goal? You want to be very careful here. A true why strong enough to weather any storm is personal and aligned with the life you deeply desire.
- The WHERE. After you win this, what opportunities will it place in front of you? What becomes possible that isn’t possible right now? What is the next natural step after this is achieved? What other goals does winning this now make possible to pursue?
If you’re clear and honest about these questions, your goals will give you a wholesome, exciting experience before, during, and after the win.
🎯 What is the win you’re chasing actually part of?
Look around you.
What are the goals you just achieved?
How did you genuinely feel about them?
What about the ones you are pursuing right now?
When the celebration ends, will you know what to step into next?
The emptiness after a win is mostly about having nothing bigger than the win to belong to.
As the Bhagavad Gita says, “Let the motive be in the deed and not in the event.”
With appreciation,
